Integrated Solar Thermal system

client:

Linc-Cymru.

project:

This is a high quality scheme in Llanishen, Cardiff for older people developed in partnership with Cardiff Council. The scheme comprises of a total of 102 self contained flats with a mix of 1 and predominantly 2 bedroom accommodation available. The scheme offers a fresh approach to housing primarily for older people who wish to live safely and independently within the community. Facilities at Llys Enfys include a shop, library, laundry room, hair and beauty salon as well as the main communal lounge and restaurant.

As part of the new build Linc-Cymru wanted to ensure that the energy solution was as forward thinking as the rest of the scheme. We were tasked with providing the most effective and sustainable solution possible. At the same time it still needed to be practical and capable of being delivered within the framework of a normal build contract.

solution:

egnida delivered an innovative, integrated solar thermal system comprising of 4 solar water heating systems, which provide a sustainable supply of hot water to the properties. The combined array surface area is 134sqm with the total hot water storage volume of 6,718 litres providing solar heated domestic hot water for all the tenants.
