Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council (RCT CBC)
egnida were successful in winning the tender to install two solar PV arrays for RCT CBC, an 18kW system on Penywaun Primary and a 25 kW system on Ysgol Gynradd Aberdar Primary. The installations were considered by RCT CBC to help reduce the authority’s carbon impact, to benefit from a renewable energy source during sunlight hours and as educational projects.
egnida successfully installed and commissioned both solar PV systems over a four day period during the school half term, ensuring the teaching curriculum was unaffected by the works. The systems were designed by egnida to ensure optimal generation and energy savings were achieved over the 20 year tariff period. The solar PV systems were installed and signed off by the Council without any issues and both sites incorporated the latest solar PV display technology onsite. These provide the schools with a live stream display of the generated energy on-site and help educate pupils and visitors about the positive impact of renewable technology, highlighting the positive contribution solar generation has to carbon reduction.
“It is hoped that the addition of these two solar PV arrays to the councils existing portfolio, will help further reduce our carbon impact and alleviate pressures on the already stringent budget, and allow us to re-invest funds back into the community. egnida won the tender with a strong application, highlighting their long history of working with Local Authority customers, offering experience, quality results and competitive pricing. egnida quickly organised an installation date for the two schools, ensuring there was no disruption to the planned teaching days and no risk to the children at any point during the installation.”
Throughout the installations, egnida maintained excellent communication with all parties involved, including the Council and Headteachers of both schools. The Council would like to commend the efficiency of egnida as we are really pleased with the way the projects were managed and completed in a timely manner.”
