Give & Gain day 2017 – Charity project to help St David’s Hospice

For this year’s Give & Gain day initiative, run by Business in the Community (BITC), egnida rallied with local organisations to help our customer St David’s Hospice bring their garden at Ystrad Mynach day centre to life. The day care hospice provides an invaluable care service to patients who are receiving palliative cancer treatments on their end of life pathway.

The garden is a fantastic resource, providing space to relax during what can be a very stressful and upsetting period. On the day, egnida and volunteers from local businesses joined forces to transform the garden into a colourful, vibrant area that can now be enjoyed by patients for years to come. The team of volunteers were busy painting, weeding and planting throughout the day, resulting in a colourful, low maintenance space for both patients and staff to enjoy.

Adrian Hadley, Deputy Chief Executive of St David’s Hospice Care commented:

“We are thrilled to have the support from Egnida, their Give & Gain initiative is a wonderful concept and we are delighted to receive support from the team. We would also like to thank all local suppliers who donated items to the project. Our Ystrad Mynach Day Hospice is one of 4 Day Hospices which are one of our many services that are provided free of charge to patients and their families who are facing the most difficult time of their lives.”

Speaking about egnida’s involvement, Andrew Padmore commented:

“I’m delighted that egnida has been able to help St David’s Hospice in this year’s Give & Gain Day initiative. As a business that values our links with the local community, it is great to give back and help one of our valued customers. Getting out of our normal work environment and working as a team is a great way for our employees to learn new skills and strengthen internal relationships. Give & Gain Day is a fantastic opportunity and I’d encourage other businesses to get involved next year!”

Give & Gain Day is the annual celebration of power and potential of employee volunteering and the positive impact it can have in communities, schools and workplaces across Wales. Through volunteering, companies and employees can develop stronger, longer-lasting community relationships, build their own skills and support local community / charity groups in the work they are doing every day. We have been overwhelmed with support from the local community, with many organisations donating to make the project possible. Egnida want to say a huge thank you to the following organisations who have pulled together and donated to the project:
