we have the key operational management building blocks to create your legacy

We recognise that the legacy you want is unique to you and your circumstances. For example, your desired outcome may be reducing operational and compliance risks, protecting your bottom line results, enhancing your brand, boosting your green credentials or improving your operational efficiency. We will invest the time upfront to understand exactly what legacy you want and then create a solution that delivers and build and operate it for you. We can also purchase, operate and maintain your existing energy and renewable assets. For further information please contact us.

Operational Management

Operational Management

operational management

We specialise in operational management of renewable and energy systems such as solar PV, biomass and battery storage. These installations earn revenue from subsidy mechanisms such as the Feed-In Tariff (FIT) and the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) and from commercial market mechanisms paying for services such as demand and generation management and frequency response. It is not uncommon for seemingly passive renewable installations such as solar PV to just have an annual electrical inspection. However, we know that managing your assets in this way means that your legacy of maximising cost savings, carbon reduction and operational benefits will not be achieved. Active technical and commercial operational management is required including aspects such as:

  • maintaining an asset register to understand what equipment you have on specific properties including associated operational, maintenance and warrantee information, requirements and constraints
  • planned maintenance regimes for all equipment
  • remote metering and monitoring that allows accurate reporting of the performance of the equipment to prevent operational problems and to ensure environmental and commercial benefits are realised including management of third party income claims
  • a forecasting and benchmarking system that ensures equipment problems are identified before they begin to have material impacts and that accounts for prevailing weather conditions and solar irradience for example
  • reactive maintenance and repair arrangements to deal with any unforeseen problems and incidents
  • training for building occupiers and your in-house maintenance teams who need to understand the operation of the equipment
  • an operating regime and associated documentation that gives you the comfort that you are not exposed in terms of health and safety legislation if there is an incident
  • a system that ensures your warrantees and insurance are appropriate and remain valid both now and into the future

“One size fits all” operational arrangements are never the best way to maximise operational benefits. We use our knowledge and experience of operating pension fund backed energy and renewable projects to create a bespoke operational management regime that ensures the legacy that you require is delivered better than you expected.

Flexible Options

flexible options

We use our knowledge and experience of operating pension fund backed energy and renewable projects to create a bespoke operational management regime that ensures the legacy that you require is delivered better than you expected. Although these operational management services are tailored to meet your requirements there are some common structures and requirements that our customers tend to have.

typical customer requirements

completely outsourced operational management

For this completely outsourced option egnida takes on full operational responsibility for an asset over its whole operational life. A common example of this is where we provide a portfolio of new fully funded solar PV installations and/or buy back some of your existing projects. In these cases we take full responsibility for all operational management including:

  • installing appropriate monitoring and metering systems
  • carrying out all planned and unplanned maintenance
  • responding to any incidents and emergency situations
  • meeting all maintenance and operational requirements and costs including any asset repairs and replacements
  • managing and reporting on all third party subsidy claims
  • managing all warrantee and health and safety compliance

The above requirements are met for the whole of the asset life which for new solar PV installations is currently 20 years.

performance monitoring and maintenance support

Many customers that have installed their own renewable energy systems, particularly solar PV, find it difficult to justify the management time required to robustly monitor and manage their installations’ performance. We can fit metering and remote monitoring systems retrospectively, as appropriate, which allows us to monitor your systems on a continuous basis. We identify problems quickly and notify you immediately. We have tailored options that allow you to choose whether you respond to issues or whether you require our technical support depending on your capability and available resources and the type of problems encountered. There are many additional benefits to this service including our ability to process your FITs and RHI claims remotely.

one off installation and operational management health check

This one off installation and operational system health check gives you the benefit of our operational experience by giving you peace of mind that your installations are safe and operating optimally and that your operating procedures meet current best practice guidelines. This service is used by customers, for example, when their existing operational teams are not familiar with renewable energy systems or when they need short term external support resources such as when needing to check solar PV installations for safety after storms and high winds.
